JPMorgan Chase Co has said that it has appointed Anu Aiyengar as the sole head of its global mergers and acquisitions (MA) franchise, Reuters has reported online. The move, which comes after co-head Dirk Albersmeier stepped down from the role, was announced in an internal memo sent out by JPMorgan's two global co-heads of investment banking, James Casey and Viswas Raghavan. The contents of the memo were confirmed by a JPMorgan spokeswoman.

According to the memo, Albersmeier will take on a new 'wholly client and transaction-focused role' within JPMorgan. Aiyengar, who has been with JPMorgan for more than two decades, has led the bank's MA franchise since she was promoted to the role alongside Albersmeier in 2020. She has advised on several large deals during her career, including Burger King's acquisition of Tim Horton Inc.
