Mr. Lavatelli, who has been with the firm since 2002, until recently headed the debt-capital-markets division in Asia ex-Japan, an internal memo seen by The Wall Street Journal showed Wednesday.

Mr. Lavatelli will continue to lead the Asia Pacific corporate equity derivatives business.

The memo showed that Bhasker Iyer will lead the investment bank's debt-capital-markets business in Asia ex-Japan.

Mr. Iyer will also continue in his existing role as co-head of Asia ex-Japan sales & marketing covering local clients for JPMorgan's markets businesses.

He also has corporates and private side marketing responsibilities for JPMorgan's rates and foreign exchange franchise in the region, according to the memo.
