JPMorgan Chase named Jennifer Piepszak as its new chief operating officer succeeding Daniel Pinto, effective immediately, the company said Tuesday.

Piepszak currently serves as co-chief executive officer of JPM's Commercial & Investment Bank.

Pinto, who has worked at JPMorgan for more than 40 years, plans to retire at the end of 2026, and will continue serving as president and operating chief until the end of June while he transitions his responsibilities to Piepszak.

Piepszak has worked at the company for 30 years. She previously oversaw consumer and community banking, and before that was chief financial officer of the firm.

Piepszak has been seen as a contender to eventually succeed Jamie Dimon as chief executive. She was partially responsible for JPMorgan's acquisition of First Republic Bank.

The company also said that Co-head of Global Banking Doug Petno would succeed Piepszak as Co-Chief Executive Officer of CIB; John Simmons, currently the head of commercial banking at the company, would join Filippo Gori as co-head of global banking.
