Establishment of the Manufacturing Plant in India

Nagoya, Japan, October 17, 2011 – JTEKT CORPORATION (JTEKT; Headquarters; Nagoya, Japan; President: Shoji Ikawa) is pleased to announce the establishment of the first bearing manufacturing facility in India named “the Bawal plant” at Koyo Bearings India Pvt. Ltd. (hereafter KBIN). The new plant will start its production in November 2012.

The Bawal plant of KBIN will manufacture automobiles’ and motorcycles’ bearings and it aims to supply its bearings to Japanese and Local companies of automobiles, motorcycles, construction machines, agricultural machines and so on. The total investment amount will be approximately 7 billion yen and plant completion will be scheduled in May 2012.

JTEKT is now concentrating on priority regions like China, India, South America and ASEAN where its economies are drastically growing. As for India, we have already started production of steering as joint venture with a local company. Therefore, we are able to use its know-how to the new plant. KBIN is a wholly owned company of JTEKT Group, and this enables us to make decisions swiftly and to respond adequately to the customers’ needs. For future, by strengthening local procurement and integrating bearings’ and machine tools’ sales facilities, we will offer appropriate products and service to our customers. We expect total sales amount of India business to be increased to 45 billion yen by the end of 2015.
