Jürg Lauper, member of the Management Board, is to retire and will thus leave Jungfrau Railways on 31 May 2017. He has spent 32 years working for the company, finally as head of infrastructures.

Jürg Lauper began his career with Jungfrau Railways in 1985 as deputy head of the construction department, taking over as head in 1986. In 2006, he was elected to the Jungfrau Railways Management Board as head of technology. In 2009, he took over the position of head of infrastructure. As head of construction and infrastructure, Jürg Lauper was instrumental in the development of the Jungfrau Railways infrastructure. He was responsible for projects such as the construction of the Berghaus on the Jungfraujoch, the new buildings at Wengen and Grindelwald railway stations, the renewal of the Schynige Platte mountain restaurant and the reconstruction of Lauterbrunnen railway station. Also realised under his management were the double track upgrade of the Wengernalp Railway (WAB) and the Bernese Oberland Railway (BOB) as well as the construction of the Buechi tunnel on the BOB route to Grindelwald.

After 32 years at Jungfrau Railways, Jürg Lauper will retire on 31 May 2017 at the age of 63. Infor-mation on his successor will be announced in due course.
