The route of the Schynige Platte Railway was discontinued on Thursday due to a derailment after 10:20 AM for the rest of the day. No-one was injured in the incident. The six people in the train concerned were immediately picked up in a replacement train and taken to Wilderswil. In the afternoon, the guests still at Schynige Platte were are all brought to the valley. As compensation, they received a free ticket for the Schynige Platte or Harder Railway.
During the night of Friday, 5 June 2015, the track was cleared. The Schynige Platte Railway was running according to the timetable again starting at 8:45 AM.. The cause of the malfunction is being looked into.
