Lang Lang, described by the New York Times as the "hottest artist in the classical music on the planet", nevertheless wasn't cold, which is not a surprise: originating from Dongbei, he deals with it well. Plus, he was wrapped up warmly because his concert as part of the Interlaken Classics is scheduled for Good Friday. The concert was made possible thanks to the initiative of Jungfrau Railways. By the third piece he played, his fingers had become a little cold, Lang Lang said after the showcase. "I have never played on snow before," said the 39-year-old Chinese enthusiastically and he was overwhelmed by the ntature, which "makes one humble". He said he wanted to return with his family to the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe.

His performance on Thursday at 3454 meters above sea level is the continuation of the event series on the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe. This began on June 7, 2007, when the kick-off for the 2008 European Football Championship in Switzerland and Austria took place on the Aletsch Glacier. Other sporting events followed, including Roger Federer and Lindsey Vonn. In terms of worldwide fame, Lang Lang is hardly inferior to these - especially in Asia he is an absolute top star. "His high profile throughout Asia strengthens our brand and with this classic star we are supple-menting the events that have so far been clearly positioned as sporting events," explains Urs Kessler, Director of Jungfrau Railways.

Lang Lang showed no fear of contact in the thin air above the Aletsch Glacier, neither with the snow and the cold, nor with the ice. At the subsequent unveiling of his exclusive ice sculpture, he expressed his enthusiasm for the icy work of art. The sculpture will now stand for a long time in the Ice Palace and is thus accessible to all visitors to the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe.
