The rolling stock will be reconditioned for the Wengernalp Railway (WAB) on the Lauterbrunnen side. Six new three-piece panoramic trains were ordered from Stadler AG for this purpose. The first car will be transported from Bussnang to Grindelwald Grund on Monday, 22 September 2014.

The construction of the new pano-trains for the WAB is in full swing. In August 2014, various commissioning tests were performed on the whole assembled composition no. 145 by Stadler AG in Bussnang. The first car will be delivered on Monday, 22 September 2014. It is expected to arrive between 2 and 4 PM in Grindelwald Grund.

The other cars in the first completed pano-train will be transported from Bussnang to Grindelwald between 23 and 25 September 2014. The commissioning trips will be conducted in early October 2014. After acceptance by the Bundesamt für Verkehr (BAV) [Federal Office of Transport] and the training of personnel, the goal is to have the first of six new pano-trains deployed for scheduled travel for the timetable change in December 2014 on the Lauterbrunnen side. The commissioning of the other trains will take place in 2015.

Redesign with modifications

The trains will be reproductions of the previous WAB pano-trains which have run on the Grindelwald side for eight years. They have slight modifications, such as the new passenger information displays and the additional multifunctional compartments in the entrance area. The new trains will be used in double traction on the WAB route Lauterbrunnen - Kleine Scheidegg.  They replace six rail cars, twelve control cars and six ski trains from the rolling material from the 50s that is currently in use.
