But some have experienced a boom.
One such is food-ordering firm Just Eat Takewaway.com, where online orders have surged.
The European company said Wednesday (October 14) it had received 46% more orders in the third quarter compared to a year before.
That's up from an increase of 32% in the first half of the year.
The latest quarter saw orders jump by almost a half in Germany and 43% in the UK.
Restaurants in the Netherlands also delivered a third more meals through the company's platform.
Chief Executive Jitse Groen also talked up the coming months for the firm.
He says Just Eat has invested aggressively and is well-set to keep up the strong performance during autumn and winter - which he called the firm's traditional growth seasons.
