CARMEL, Ind. (AP) _ KAR Auction Services Inc. (KAR) on Tuesday reported a loss of $5.8 million in its third quarter.

The Carmel, Indiana-based company said it had a loss of 15 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 5 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 15 cents per share.

The used and salvaged vehicle auctioneer posted revenue of $393 million in the period, which matched Street forecasts.
