KASB Modaraba is a Pakistan-based non-bank Islamic financial institution. The Company offers Islamic financial products, which include Ijarah, Musharaka, Murabahah, and Diminishing Musharaka. The Ijarah is an Islamic alternative of leasing and refers to the transfer of benefits and use of an asset by the owner (lessor) to the (kasb modaraba) lessee at an agreed rent for an agreed period of time. The Company provides financing under the Musharaka arrangement by entering into trading partnerships with credible business firms dealing mainly in commodities, on a transaction-to-transaction basis or on a roll-over basis, on a mutually agreed profit-sharing ratio. Its product Murabaha is a particular kind of sale where the seller discloses to buyer, cost of goods sold and his profit margin. Diminishing Musharaka allows equity participation and sharing of profits on a pro-rata basis. Through this mode the Company keeps on reducing its equity in the project.
