KGHM and power group Tauron inked a letter of intent on cooperation in the field of low emission energy sources, including development of small modular reactors (SMR) technology, the companies announced at a dedicated event. The sides aim to determine their options concerning potential cooperation in SMR-related investments, as well as nature and details of that cooperation, Tauron said in a market filing that followed. The parties will analyze available technologies and possibilities of building generation installations next to receiving infrastructure, as well as options concerning utilization of existing energy blocks in the development of SMR technology, the filing stated.

Tauron and KGHM will also analyze potential cooperation with third parties already carrying out or planning to carry out SMR projects, according to the filing.
