TORONTO (AP) _ Kinross Gold Corp. (KGC) on Wednesday reported third-quarter net income of $64.9 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Toronto-based company said it had net income of 5 cents.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 6 cents per share.

The gold mining company posted revenue of $856.5 million in the period.
