Chongqing KG International Logistics Co., Ltd. ('KGIL') (Kintetsu World Express's joint venture in Chongqing, China) has launched a new operation for Yhopu.com (www.yhopu.com).

Yhopu.com is a Chinese online store, opened in March of 2016, and sells directly imported goods to private customers. KGIL's bonded warehouse has already been in operation to keep imported goods for the online store.

In China, the growing popularity of foreign products has pushed e-commerce businesses, unfortunately resulting in a lot of fake designer merchandise in the marketplace. This is one of the backgrounds to the recent rise of cross-border electronic commerce, in which goods are sourced directly from foreign businesses. Meanwhile, there are some inconveniences to import directly in terms of high shipping costs, a long lead time, and difficulty in returning goods.

In order to solve these issues, in 2014, the Chinese government gave its approval to the plan for allowing e-retailers to receive orders of imported goods from consumers that are kept in some bonded areas. Thanks to the launch of this scheme, e-retailors can keep inventory in bonded areas in China.

The Chinese government carefully screens e-retailers before giving them approval. Therefore, there is little risk that fake designer merchandise is available on sites. Additionally, consumers benefit from the same lead time and shipping costs provided by domestic e-commerce sites to purchase foreign products. This scheme is currently a hot topic in the world.

In addition to KGIL, Yhopu.com (www.yhopu.com) has also teamed up with Chongqing Vertical Line Network Science Technology Co., Ltd., a Chinese trading company, Chongqing Lawson Convenience Store Co., Ltd. ('Chongqing Lawson'), a subsidiary of Lawson, Inc. (headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo), and the Northern Chongqing New Section Management Committee, the city's administrative organization. The roles of each business and administrative organization are described as follows.

a) KGIL

Managing its bonded warehouse (including inventory management for the online tenants)

b) Chongqing Vertical Line Network Science Technology Co., Ltd.

Making, developing, and maintaining websites and applications as well as soliciting new tenants

c) Northern Chongqing New Section Management Committee

Screening possible tenants and providing the administrative management of the bonded warehouse

d) Chongqing Lawson

Helping to promote sales, such as by displaying sample products at its stores

What stands out about Yhopu.com is that it displays popular products at Lawson convenience stores in Chongqing. Therefore, the site users can see products there before purchasing them online. In addition, Lawson boasts the highest number of stores in Chongqing, with 110 stores as of the end of March. In effect, this serves as a PR campaign for Yhopu.com, appealing to people who do not normally use online stores.

Yhopu.com now has 80 tenants and 6,000 items with a focus on food and general goods imported from Australia, New Zealand, and Japan, but it is aiming to increase the number of items and import them from more countries.

The Kintetsu World Express Group will make every effort to meet the needs for high-quality logistics in the Chinese consumer market.
