FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) - A cooperation between Kion and chip giant Nvidia has been well received by investors. The stock of the logistics specialist and forklift manufacturer jumped 8.4 percent to 34.57 euros at lunchtime on Tuesday, thus vigorously continuing its recovery attempt from the start of the week. "Just the association of Kion with the name of the AI giant Nvidia is driving the price up sharply," said a trader.

Shortly before Christmas, Kion shares tested the technical support level of just over EUR 30 for the third time in 2024 and laboriously moved up from it in small steps. The situation could now change, because on Tuesday it rose to 35.23 euros at times, and thus above the technically important resistance level of around 35 euros. A sustained breakout could brighten the situation, because investors who focus on charts often respond to such signals by buying shares.

As Kion announced this morning, the logistics specialist is cooperating with Nvidia and also with the consulting firm Accenture to improve supply chains. The goals are to develop new warehouses and to improve existing warehouses at companies. To do this, Kion and Accenture are using artificial intelligence (AI) technology developed by Nvidia and simulations.

"This is now creating a lot of excitement," said one trader, also referring to statements made by the Nvidia CEO himself. "Jen-Hsun Huang has high hopes for the robotics business," the trader specified. At the start of the CES 2025 trade show in Las Vegas that day, Huang had spoken in a keynote address about new software technologies designed to train robots and advance numerous AI applications for businesses and consumers.

Market expert Andreas Lipkow also emphasizes the "magnetic effect" that news from the AI sector has on investors, with a view to the sharp rise in Kion's share price. There is no denying that AI technology will lead to greater efficiency and bring numerous advantages for individual sectors of the economy. At the same time, the future market is huge and will permanently change developments in many areas.

"However, it will take a while before the new AI processes and technologies can be monetized sustainably," says Lipkow cautiously. And Kion, he expects, could benefit from the developments in the long term, but will still depend more on economic influences than on planned new AI applications in the logistics sector./ck/bek/men
