--Simon Property Group Inc. and Brookfield Asset Management Inc., the owners of retailer JCPenney, have made an offer to buy Kohl's, The New York Post reports Monday, citing "sources close to the talks."

--The deal could value Kohl's at more than $8.6 billion, the report said.
