Supermarket brand Kroger is reportedly testing check-out free shopping carts and mulling the idea of putting check-out free technology in store aisles.

The carts feature sensor tech and camera that would let a shopper buy without having to go near a checkout line, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

"There is an opportunity to remove the friction," Kroger CIO Yael Cosset told the news outlet. "If customers are saying, I would love to be able to pick up a sandwich and walk out with it, then we would create that experience."
