L3Harris Technologies Inc. said Tuesday that a team led by the company has been selected to provide the Shipboard Panoramic Electro-Optic/Infrared system to the U.S. Navy to improve fleet protection.

The defense company said the initial contract is valued at $205 million with a potential value of $593 million if all options are exercised through March 2031.

L3Harris said it will serve as systems integrator and prime contractor. The new system is to be installed on destroyers, carriers, frigates, amphibious and landing helicopter assault ships, the company said.

The team includes Lockheed Martin Corp. and BAE Systems Plc, L3Harris said.
