L3Harris Technologies has joined a strategic industry team comprised of Trident Solutions Group and HDT Global to develop and deliver enhanced robotic payloads to bolster future EOD missions for military customers.
The industry team will provide two new payloads able to be mounted onto both medium and large robots in line with emerging military requirements. L3Harris will develop a precision aim module, a high-precision robot arm that offers high-recoil disruptor capability. They will also support in the development of a dual-arm, high-dexterity manipulation system, giving operators improved capability and flexibility when defeating hazardous threats.
'The precision aim module will provide unrivalled accuracy and high performance during EOD operations,' said Paul Bosscher, Robotics Chief Engineer at L3Harris. 'These advanced payloads offer vastly improved dexterity and precision during challenging tasks. We're constantly evolving robotic capabilities such as these to ensure customers stay one step ahead of the threat.'
The L3Harris precision aim module carries a disruptor with the capability to shoot multiple projectiles to accurately defeat explosive threats from a safe stand-off distance. The high-dexterity manipulation system uses HDT Global's Adroit dual-arm manipulator controlled by L3Harris' intuitive haptic controller, designed to quickly and efficiently manage intricate tasks such as unzipping bags.
L3Harris T7 and T4 robots are currently deployed by world-leading military forces in the U.K., U.S. and Australia to support EOD missions on a global scale.
