MIAMI (AP) _ Lennar Corp. (LEN) on Monday reported fiscal third-quarter earnings of $666.4 million.

The Miami-based company said it had profit of $2.12 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.51 per share.

The homebuilder posted revenue of $5.87 billion in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $5.33 billion.

Lennar shares have risen 42% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen nearly 5%. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $79, a climb of 45% in the last 12 months.
