MIAMI (AP) _ Lennar Corp. (LEN) on Wednesday reported fiscal fourth-quarter net income of $882.8 million.

The Miami-based company said it had profit of $2.82 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.38 per share.

The homebuilder posted revenue of $6.83 billion in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $6.54 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $2.47 billion, or $7.85 per share. Revenue was reported as $22.49 billion.

Lennar shares have risen 33% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has increased 15%. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $74.31, an increase of 28% in the last 12 months.
