Dr. Kenneth Melani elected as new Chairman of the Board of Directors of LifeWatch AG

Neuhausen am Rheinfall/Switzerland - LifeWatch AG (SIX Swiss Exchange: LIFE) today informs about the election of Dr. Kenneth Melani as new Chairman of the Board of Directors of LifeWatch. The former Chairman and CEO Dr. Yacov Geva will continue to act as a Corporate Chief Executive Officer.

On the occasion of a Board meeting of June 29, 2013, Board Member Dr. Kenneth Melani, who had been designated previously for this office (see press release of March 25, 2013), was elected as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of LifeWatch AG. He is taking the Chair from the long-time Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of LifeWatch AG, Dr. Yacov Geva, who will con- tinue to act as the Corporate Chief Executive Officer in order to grow the existing and future busi- ness of the Company together with the new Chairman Dr. Melani.
As about 99% of the Company's revenues are generated in the United States and Dr. Melani is, due to his longstanding experience, a recognized expert in the U.S. healthcare system, he was elected a member of the Board of Directors at an extraordinary shareholder meeting in January
2013.
Kenneth R. Melani (born 1954, citizen of the U.S.) is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Highmark, a health insurance company based in Pittsburgh and the largest health insur- er in Pennsylvania. He graduated in 1975 with a chemistry degree and enrolled later in the Bow- man Gray School of Medicine in North Carolina before specializing in adult internal medicine. In
1982, he started his own practice in Pennsylvania. Later he began to take on work for West Penn Cares, a company of West Penn-affiliated physicians, developing business opportunities with a commercial blood laboratory and in-home intravenous therapy devices. In 1989, he was appointed Chief Medical Officer for Blue Cross of Western Pennsylvania. During this time, Blue Cross of Western Pennsylvania merged with Harrisburg's Pennsylvania Blue Shield and the company was re-named Highmark. Kenneth Melani was awarded W&J College's "Entrepreneur of the Year
Award" in 2009.
