Linde plc reported earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2022. For the third quarter, the company reported sales was USD 8,797 million compared to USD 7,668 million a year ago. Net income was USD 1,273 million compared to USD 979 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 2.56 compared to USD 1.9 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 2.54 compared to USD 1.88 a year ago. Basic earnings per share was USD 2.56 compared to USD 1.9 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share was USD 2.54 compared to USD 1.88 a year ago.
For the nine months, sales was USD 25,465 million compared to USD 22,495 million a year ago. Net income was USD 2,819 million compared to USD 2,800 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 5.62 compared to USD 5.39 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 5.57 compared to USD 5.34 a year ago. Basic earnings per share was USD 5.62 compared to USD 5.4 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share was USD 5.57 compared to USD 5.35 a year ago.
Linde plc is one of the world's leading engineering and industrial gas production groups. Net sales break down by activity as follows:
- production and sale of industrial gases (86.3%). Net sales break down by market between chemicals and energy (25%), manufacturing (19%), healthcare (16%), metals and mining (14%), food and beverage (10%), electronics (9%) and other (7%);
- surface engineering services (8.3%);
- other (5.4%).
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: the United Kingdom (5.9%), the United States (31.6%), Germany (11%), China (7.9%), Australia (4.1%), Brazil (3.5%) and other (36%).
