CLPe has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Longhua District People's Government of Shenzhen Municipality on 26 August to develop digitalised energy projects to promote the development of low-carbon energy in the GuangdongHong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and support Mainland China's goal of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2060.

The MoU also signifies CLPe's strategic move in accelerating its business investment in the GBA. The National 14th Five-Year Plan puts emphasis on developing the GBA as an international innovation centre and to lead the green transformation of the country's economy. Under the MoU, CLPe will work with the Longhua District People's Government of Shenzhen Municipality to develop digitalised energy projects and support the digital transformation of Longhua District, which sits at the heart of the GBA. CLPe will implement one-stop smart energy projects and solutions for buildings and parks, including renewable energy solutions, electric vehicle charging solutions, cooling systems, and energy storage applications. The partnership aims to build Longhua District as a national pilot area for energy digitalisation and integration to support low-carbon, sustainable development across the country.

With the support of the Longhua District People's Government of Shenzhen Municipality, CLPe will establish its GBA head office in Longhua, making it the leading enterprise in the application of new energy in the district to seize the opportunities arising from the country's targets of achieving the peak of carbon emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060.

CLPe Managing Director Mr Alex Keisser said: 'CLPe is dedicated to providing customers with one-stop energy and infrastructure solutions. We are delighted to collaborate with the Longhua District People's Government of Shenzhen Municipality to develop lowcarbon energy projects and establish our GBA head office in the district. This represents a remarkable step forward in the expansion of our business in the GBA. 2 'Looking ahead, we will continue to leverage our professional knowledge and expertise in the energy sector to implement more integrated energy projects in the GBA, and encourage more commercial and industrial customers to use green energy so that we can reduce carbon emission and combat climate change together.'

The distributed solar project at the headquarters of the MTR Corporation (Shenzhen) Limited (MTR Shenzhen) is the first one-stop energy project CLPe has launched in Longhua District. CLPe funded, designed, and constructed the system and will be responsible for its operation and maintenance, while MTR Shenzhen will benefit from the zero carbon electricity generated by the system at a favourable price. Mr Terry Wong Wing-kin, General Manager of MTR-Shenzhen, said: 'MTR is the lowcarbon practitioner as an electrified public transport system. The distributed solar project in Longhua District has deepened and extended the partnership between MTR and CLPe in the new energy sector outside Hong Kong. With a close communication mechanism and full trust in each other, MTR and CLPe will draw on our experiences and strengths to create a role model for the pursuit of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality in Longhua District.' The project involved the installation of more than 2,000 solar panels at the roof of the MTR Shenzhen headquarters. When it goes into full operation, it is expected to generate 1,300 MWh of renewable energy per year, equivalent to a reduction of 16,000 tonnes of carbon emissions1 associated with electricity during the contracting period. CLPe and MTR Shenzhen are exploring the possibility of installing more distributed solar systems along other railway lines.
