Home improvement retailer Lowe's Companies, Inc. is gearing up to hire on 20,000 associates to support customer demand this holiday season and is dedicating an additional $100 million in bonuses for frontline hourly workers.

The hires will serve in full-time, part-time and seasonal roles at U.S.-based locations, with 2,500 team members being added to regional distribution centers to support the holiday supply chain effort, according to a press release.

Hourly associates at U.S. stores, distribution centers and call centers will receive a bonus Nov. 13 with full-time hourly associates getting $300, and $150 for part-time and seasonal associates.

The latest bonus payment builds on a $100 million announced earlier this month for associate bonuses in October, bringing the total to to more than $775 million.

"As the holiday season approaches, we're especially grateful for our front-line associates who continue to maintain the highest level of customer service, and this bonus is our way of saying thank you and providing a little extra financial support for their families during this time," Marvin R. Ellison, Lowe's president and CEO, said in the release. "We're also pleased to continue hiring for more than 20,000 roles across our stores and supply chain during a time when it's more important than ever to make being home for the holidays special."
