AirBaltic is considering an IPO to support its growth, with discussions underway with potential investors, including Lufthansa, which is considering a stake. The company has also renewed a wet lease agreement with Lufthansa for a further three years.

The group is facing technical challenges due to a shortage of Pratt & Whitney engines, a problem that AirBaltic plans to resolve over the next two years. With one of the youngest fleets in Europe, made up mainly of Airbus A220s, the company plans to double its size to 100 aircraft over the next five years.

The consolidation of the European airline sector is continuing, and AirBaltic is contributing to this as a leader in the Baltic States. As travel patterns have changed since the pandemic, with an increase in leisure rather than business travel, this trend is likely to continue.
