STUTTGART (dpa-AFX) - The CMT travel fair opens its doors to visitors in Stuttgart on Saturday (9:00 a.m.). According to the organizers, almost 1,600 exhibitors are expected at what is claimed to be the world's largest consumer exhibition for tourism and leisure. In addition to motorhomes, numerous travel destinations will also be presented at CMT – including this year's partner country India and the European
European Capital of Culture Chemnitz.
One of the main topics at the trade fair is caravanning, which has experienced a boom, particularly during the coronavirus pandemic. Visitors can view around 1,200 motorhomes – from small, practical vans to fully equipped luxury vehicles and expedition vehicles for all types of terrain. For caravanning beginners, there are, for example, campervans that are suitable as a family vehicle as well as for traveling, as well as roof tents that can be easily mounted on a car as an inexpensive camping option.
This year, people who want to convert a vehicle into a camper themselves will also get their money's worth. At the subsidiary fair Selbstausbau (January 23 to 26), everything revolves around personal vehicle conversion – and thus, among other things, around batteries, insulation materials and tools.
The CMT (Caravan - Motor - Touristik) has been around since 1968 and will last until January 26 this year. In 2020, the public fair set a record with around 300,000 visitors. Last year, more than 234,000 people visited the CMT./jwe/DP/stw
