LUKOIL TO SUPPORT CREATION OF KOGALYM BRANCH OF STATE RUSSIAN MUSEUM

Friday, June 4, 2021

A pentalateral agreement on the development of cultural cooperation in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District (Yugra) was signed today on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The document was signed by Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, Governor of Yugra Natalya Komarova, President of LUKOIL Vagit Alekperov, General Director of the State Russian Museum Vladimir Gusev, and Mayor of the city of Kogalym Nikolay Palchikov.

Their cooperation envisages construction of a building for a museum complex - the future location of the Kogalym branch of the State Russian Museum. Thus, the people of Yugra will get access to valuable cultural artefacts and information services of world's largest collection of Russian art.

Thanks to LUKOIL's earlier support, the first local branch of the State Academic Maly Theatre outside of Moscow had opened in Kogalym. Due to the sophistication of its equipment, performances staged here are at exactly the same technological level as at the Maly Theatre stage in Moscow.

For years, LUKOIL has been actively investing into social development of the region. Kogalym received one-of-a-kind cultural facilities, which make the city ever more attractive for tourists. The most notable among those projects are Church of the Holy Martyr Tatiana, which houses her holy relics, and Galaktika sports and culture centre that features a greenhouse, aquarium and waterpark. A new education centre - a branch of Perm National Research Polytechnic University (Perm Tech) is also being built.
