Consumers and store associates and workers will no longer have to wear a protective COVID-9 mask in Target stores.

The retailer put the revised mandate into effect on Monday but stated it will still encourage workers and shoppers to social distance and continue with following disinfection efforts, according to an NBC News report.

"We'll also continue to provide our team with resources and benefits they need, including free medical-grade masks, COVID-19 tests, paid leave for team members with positive COVID-19 cases, and paid time and free Lyft rides to reduce barriers for team members to get their vaccines," the retailer said in a statement.
