SYDNEY--Australian financial services company Macquarie Group Ltd. said it expects first-half earnings for fiscal 2022 to be similar to its net profit in the prior six months.

Macquarie, which reported net profit of 2.03 billion Australian dollars ($1.5 billion) for October-March, said its April-September result would be only "slightly down" from that.

The company, in an investor presentation, said favorable market conditions were contributing to a stronger-than-expected performance from its commodities and global markets businesses.

Macquarie said that it continues to maintain a cautious business stance, "with a conservative approach to capital, funding and liquidity that positions us well to respond to the current environment."

The company had net profit of A$985 million in the first half of its 2021 fiscal year.
