It's game on again for retail toy company Toys "R" Us, which announced Thursday that it's opening in 400 Macy's stores nationwide starting in 2022.

The companies announced the partnership at the same time opening an online Toys "R" Us shop through Macy's.

"Our partnership with Macy's marks the greatly anticipated return of Toys 'R' Us in the U.S.A., and changes the retail landscape by combining two beloved retail brands together for consumers across the nation in a completely innovative way," WHP Chairman and CEO Yehuda Shmidman said in a press release. "We're thrilled to be launching this new partnership together with Macy's."

Customers can shop for toys by age on Macys.com/ToysRUs or on ToysRUs.com.

Toys "R" Us was founded by Charles Lazarus more than 70 years ago. It currently generates more than $2 billion in retail sales annually through 900 stores outside of the United States.

Earlier this year, WHP Global announced that it was acquiring Toys "R" Us. The toy retailer company declared bankruptcy in 2018, closing 900 locations.

It relaunched its website in 2019 when Toys "R" Us parent company TRU Kids partnered with Target.
