NEW YORK, December 28, 2021 - New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced today that the team has recalled defenseman Zac Jones and forward Tim Gettinger from their Taxi Squad.

Jones, 21, has skated in 21 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season, registering four goals and 13 assists for 17 points. He leads Wolf Pack defensemen in several categories in 2021-22, including goals, assists, and points. In addition, Jones ranks tied for fourth among AHL defensemen in assists and ranks tied for fifth among AHL defensemen in points this season.

The 5-10, 175-pounder skated in 10 games with the Rangers last season, notching four assists. Prior to joining the Blueshirts in 2020-21, Jones helped UMass win the National Championship. He was named to the NCAA (East) Second All-American Team, the Hockey East Second All-Star Team, and the Frozen Four All-Tournament Team last season. Jones ranked second among NCAA defensemen in goals (nine), ranked third among NCAA defensemen in points (24), tied for third among NCAA defensemen in shots on goal (84), and tied for eighth among NCAA defensemen in assists (15) in 2020-21.

Internationally, the Richmond, Virginia native has represented the United States in several tournaments. Jones helped the United States earn a bronze medal at the 2021 IIHF World Championship and was named one of the Top Three Players on his Team in the tournament. He also represented the United States at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship and helped the United States win a gold medal at the 2018 World Junior A Challenge.

Jones was selected by the Rangers in the third round, 68th overall, of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.

Gettinger, 23, has skated in 21 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season, registering eight goals and eight assists for 16 points. He ranks tied for second on the Wolf Pack in goals and ranks fourth on the team in points in 2021-22.

The Cleveland, Ohio native has skated in eight career NHL games with the Rangers over parts of three seasons, and he has tallied one career NHL assist/point. The 6-6, 220-pounder has skated in 161 career AHL games over parts of four seasons, all with Hartford, registering 47 goals and 42 assists for 89 points.

Gettinger was selected by the Rangers in the fifth round, 141st overall, of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
