Sports Desk, May 22 (EFE).- Manchester City on Sunday clinched the Premier League title having turned their 0-2 deficit against Aston Villa to a 3-2 victory, while Liverpool had to settle for the second spot despite a 3-1 win over Wolverhampton.

Both Manchester City and Liverpool - vying for the title until the final fixture of the season - got off to an unfortunate start. Although they reacted in time, the Citizens' one-point lead proved decisive.

The Citizens conceded two goals - the first by Matty Cash in the 37th minute before Philippe Coutinho made it 0-2 in the 69th minute - but they rallied back over a five-minute stretch.

Ilkay Gündogan opened and closed the scoring for Manchester City in the 76th and 81st minutes, and Rodi was also on target in the 78th minute.

Liverpool also found themselves trailing Wolverhampton 1-0 just three minutes into the game, but Sadio Mane gave Liverpool a glimpse of hope halfway through the first half as City were falling behind.

Supersub Mohamed Salah scored the second goal in the 84th minute and Andrew Robertson made it 3-1, but it was not enough to clinch the title.

Elsewhere, Manchester United secured a Europa League spot next season despite a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace thanks to Brighton & Hove Albion, who defeated West Ham 3-1.

Tottenham, meanwhile, will return to the Champions League after a two-year absence with a 5-0 victory over Norwich City to end Arsenal's hopes to qualify for the tournament. The Gunners will play in the Europa League.
