THE MOST sought after skills in the UK are within the operations and logistics sector, the latest data has revealed.

It comes as the country battles HGV driver shortages, which have scuppered previously smooth sailing supply chains.

While the trickling supply of lorry drivers has knocked most industries, agriculture, construction and utilities have been hardest hit, according to ManpowerGroup's research.

The pandemic-induced issue has persisted despite the government's attempts to ease the shortage by providing temporary visas for overseas workers.

Beyond workers geared towards logistics, ManpowerGroup found that technology, communications and media skills are also in short supply.

Nearly 50 per cent of employers are in search for staff with technology and media skills. Another 44 per cent are on the hunt for banking, finance and real estate buffs, after the pandemic made many workers rethink their careers.
