MILWAUKEE (AP) _ ManpowerGroup Inc. (MAN) on Tuesday reported first-quarter net income of $62 million.

The Milwaukee-based company said it had net income of $1.11 per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 66 cents per share.

The staffing company posted revenue of $4.92 billion in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $4.67 billion.

Manpower shares have climbed 21% since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed 71% in the last 12 months.
