Manz AG continues to record positive order development from the battery manufacturing sector. In the course of the overall steady increase in demand for Li-ion battery systems, Manz AG has now received an order from one of Germany's leading battery manufacturers for an assembly line to produce battery modules from wound round cells. The order volume is in the upper single-digit million-euro range and will affect revenues and earnings next year. The project is aimed at setting up a module assembly line in Eastern Europe and offers the potential for a follow-up order of a comparable size. The proximity to the Manz locations in Slovakia and Hungary is of great advantage in the realization of the project. Manz AG was also able to convince the customer with its extensive experience gained in similar projects as well as its many years of successful cooperation with the customer in other projects. Production advantages for the customer compared to the competition result in particular from the high precision in the interconnection of the cells by means of laser welding with simultaneously fast cycle times, which are realized by a self-developed, innovative gripper technology. The customer received intensive support from Manz AG already during the conception phase, which enabled the product design of the battery modules to be optimized for mass production. Among other things, the modular Battery Laser System BLS 500, a flexible laser system that combines the advantages of a standard system with those of an individual solution its platform approach, makes an important contribution to this efficiency increase. Among other things, the BLS 500 can be used to tightly weld Li-ion battery cells into battery packs or differently shaped battery cans with high strength.
