Marriott International Inc. and Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc. will remain open in Washington D.C. next week, when President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will take office Jan. 20, company representatives said.

Federal officials and inauguration organizers are boosting security in response to growing concerns after last week's attack on the Capitol by a mob of supporters of President Trump. Airbnb Inc. earlier Wednesday said it is blocking and canceling all reservations in the Washington metro area next week.

Marriott and Hilton said they will keep safety and security in mind in light of recent events.

"We plan on keeping our commitment to existing reservations," Marriott spokeswoman Connie Kim said. Ms. Kim declined to comment if Marriott would work to identify individuals who are confirmed to have been involved in the Jan. 6 storming of the Capitol.

Hilton spokesman Nigel Glennie also declined to comment, citing guest privacy.
