EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) _ Mattel Inc. (MAT) on Thursday reported second-quarter net income of $66.4 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The El Segundo, California-based company said it had net income of 18 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 5 cents per share.

The toy maker posted revenue of $1.24 billion in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.11 billion.

Mattel expects full-year earnings in the range of $1.42 to $1.48 per share.
