ORLANDO, Fla. - December 21, 2017 - Mazor Robotics, a pioneer and leader in the field of surgical robotic systems, announced that a first European PROlat case was performed by Dr. Bartolomé Oliver of Oliver & Ayats Institute in Barcelona, Spain. PROlat is a single-position solution for placing pedicle screws and other spinal hardware in the lateral decubitus position with the Renaissance® Guidance System.

'With PROlat from Mazor we were able to use the lateral position of the patient to perform the anterior approach for the ALIF using the oblique approach from the left lateral abdominal wall through a minimally invasive incision and posteriorly, Renaissance was used to complete the procedure with a percutaneous transpedicular fusion. This approach saves time in the operating room and more importantly, is less invasive for the patient with decreased risks,' said Dr. Oliver.

Mr. Christopher Prentice, Chief Commercial Officer of Mazor Robotics Inc. added 'We are excited to see Dr. Oliver being the first surgeon in Europe to complete a PROlat case using Renaissance® and the benefits it is providing to his practice and his patients.'

Mazor has also fulfilled orders for the PROlat application in Thailand, Australia and the United States.
