Beginning Friday, McDonald's in Japan will only offer fries in a small size thanks in part to flooding at a Vancouver port and supply chain issues stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a report in The Japan Times.

Medium and large fry orders will not be available, and pre-set orders with medium fries will be discounted to reflect the small size.

Rationing will last Dec. 24-30 as McDonald's Holdings Co. Japan works with suppliers and attempts to schedule alternative flights to try to bolster the supply. There are 2,900 McDonald's outlets in Japan.
