Re: Informing of Company's Operating Result for 3-month and 6-month periods ended June 30, 2014 and Over 20% Decrease in Revenues (Amendment)
Dear Sir,
We, MCOT Public Company Limited (MCOT Plc.), would like to inform you that according to the Company's operating results for 3-month and 6-month periods ended June 30, 2014, the Company's net profit decreased 65.1%, from Baht 446 million to Bath 156 million, compared to the same period of last year. The significant reasons of such decrease are as follows:
1. TV revenue in Q 2 - 2014 decreased 23%, from Baht 946 million to Baht 725 million, compared to the same period of last year, due to a 7% decrease in advertising spending in the industry and deceleration of spending in public relation projects of government and private sectors and agencies, affected by political situation. These factors resulted in a decrease in the Company's revenues as follows:
1.1 A 28% decrease in advertising revenue from news, cartoon and time-sharing programmes was partly due to a drop in Modernine TV's average rating. Despite live broadcast of the World Cup 2014 matches, MCOT was not largely affected.
1.2 An 11% decrease in revenue from public relations projects was derived from the
Government's budget tightening. However, MCOT was able to consistently generate revenues from special projects, for example; an environmental campaign, in collaboration with the Department of City
Planning, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and a public relations campaign, in collaboration with
Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand.
1.3 A 19% decrease in satellite network revenue was derived from a 27-day discontinuation of broadcast of programmes on MCOT1 and MCOT World, in compliance with the
National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)'s order and termination of the Agreement between MCOT
and some satellite channel operators on C band Satellite.
1.4 A 58% decrease in joint-venture operation revenue paid to MCOT by True Visions,
in accordance with the Agreement on Joint Operations of Subscription Television Business
2. Total expenses slightly changed, compared to the same period of last year, despite broadcast of 2 new digital terrestrial channels, recording of expense of approximate 48 million baht for the first payment for the license fee to operate two digital terrestrial channels to the NBTC and a transfer of asset ownership from Thai Television Channel 3 to MCOT, in compliance with the Agreement on Joint Operation Agreement between MCOT and BEC.
As a result of the decrease in total expenses which was inconsistent with that in revenues, the Company's net profit for the 3-month period ended June 30, 2014, dropped 65.1%, compared to the same period of last year.
Sincerely yours,

(Mrs. Suphawan Thumvachiraporn)
