Mears General Manager Judith Bolton and Apprentice Poppy Judd have been shortlisted for the 2021 Housing Heroes and Women in Housing Awards recognising them for their amazing work and outstanding achievements in the housing sector.
Jude Bolton, General Manager for Mears' key contract with Exeter City Council was shortlisted for the 'Professional of the year (consultant and contractor)' award for her exceptional professionalism and successfully overseeing the activity of our partnership to deliver the new 10 (+5) year Integrated Asset Management contract that was mobilised during the peak of the pandemic.
Jude has worked in the housing sector for 18 years and has been a dedicated member of the team at Mears for three years. With a background in customer liaison, training and civil engineering, she has developed a wide understanding of different aspects of construction having worked for clients, contractors and as a consultant
She leads her team in an inspirational way; she is self-motivated and has excellent client relations. Jude is very well respected amongst peers and colleagues and more importantly, she is proud of her team and even more so of their achievements.
Jude lives and breathes the Mears values and is extremely passionate about creating chances locally for the residents of Exeter. As well as going over and above with the approach to engaging with new apprentices, she has worked on numerous community campaigns over the last 12 months including holding coffee mornings at the sheltered housing locations.
In a double awards delight, Mears Apprentice Poppy Judd has also reached the finals for the 'Apprentice of the Year' award. Poppy has a kind and caring heart which shines through in the work she does with us at Mears.
Poppy works across multiple contracts, such as Town & Country Housing, Moat Housing,London Borough of Havering via the London Housing Consortium.
She has shown incredible tenacity and excelled in her apprenticeship, going above and beyond her day to day activities.
In a short time, she has picked up the skills required to deal with customers and clients faster than anticipated. Poppy has received positive feedback from both customers and other members of the team and takes initiative where needed.
Recently she worked on a refurbishment project and on her own accord, she wrote an email to the resident just to check in and make sure that they are feeling better after we had been in to complete the work.
She showed empathy for the resident who was experienced increased anxiety levels resulting from COVID. Poppy truly loves her job which shows in her pride and progression in the role.
