Whether police, rescue services or municipal services: Mercedes-Benz operates its vehicles throughout Germany and in many European cities in the service of the public. The Department of Official and Special Vehicles at Mercedes-Benz Sales Germany is responsible for business with municipalities, state and federal authorities. After solutions for rescue services were presented at the RETTmobil in Fulda in mid-May, the focus is now on vehicles for municipal services and police at the world's leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management (IFAT) in Munich and the General Police Equipment Exhibition & Conference® (GPEC) in Frankfurt am Main. A wide variety of vehicles for different areas of application will be shown.

Kersten Trieb, Head of Authorities, Diplomatic and Special Vehicle Sales at Mercedes Benz Sales Germany: "Our vehicles with a wide variety of industry solutions are as diverse as the requirements of public services. From the radio patrol car of the police to the Sprinter for municipal economic yards to the ambulance - in cooperation with our body manufacturers, we offer tailor-made solutions for all public areas. I am very pleased that we will be able to present our product portfolio at numerous trade fairs this year, which of course also includes locally emission-free electric vehicles."

Mercedes-Benz Vans at IFAT in Munich

The world's leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management, IFAT for short, takes place every two years in Munich. This year, from 30 May to 3 June, the presence of Mercedes-Benz Vans will focus on the Sprinter, which plays the largest role in municipal services in the van sector. With two exhibits, news will be presented in the Bavarian metropolis.

A battery-electric eSprinter panel van with shelf expansion from Sortimo makes it clear that even municipal workshop trolleys, which often move on plannable routes within urban areas, can be locally emission-free. As a base vehicle, the eSprinter is equipped with a powerful electric motor with 85 kW (116 hp). Thanks to its fast charging function, the high-voltage battery makes it possible to bring the state of charge from ten to 80 percent[1] within just twenty minutes. The vehicle presented in bright "municipal orange" was equipped by the van solution partner Sortimo with the Globelyst4 vehicle equipment, which can be adapted exactly to the needs of the customer and the best possible use of space for the van. It contributes to order and, thanks to the integrated ProSafe load securing system, also to safety in the vehicle.

The second exhibit is a Sprinter 4x4 with a double cab on which a MEILLER steel three-way tipper is mounted. The vehicle not only features the new high-torque four-cylinder diesel engine, but also the new, particularly comfortable and quiet all-wheel drive with torque-on-demand and 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission - with a permissible gross vehicle weight of 5.5 tonnes and a payload of 3.1 tonnes for sufficient capacity to transport goods in municipal use.

Mercedes-Benz at the GPEC in Frankfurt am Main

At the 12th International Trade Fair & Conference for Internal Security GPEC (General Police Equipment Exhibition & Conference®), Mercedes-Benz AG is once again presenting itself as a full-line supplier of police emergency vehicles with a wide range of products. From 31 May to 2 June, the company will be presenting a total of six vehicles in Frankfurt am Main. Radio patrol vehicles include a Vito and an eVito Tourer.

The battery-electric eVito Tourer from Mercedes-Benz offers the necessary features to meet the growing demands on the material and technology of a radio patrol car. The vehicle exhibited at the trade fair (eVito Tourer with 90 kWh usable battery capacity: Power consumption 29.8-27.1 kWh/100km, emissions: 0 g/km)[2] has a highly efficient electric motor, which unfolds an output of 150 kW (204 hp) and releases a torque of 345 Nm.

A range of up to 370 kilometers2 allows a sufficiently large radius for police operations.

Its fast charging function recharges the eVito Tourer to a charge level of 80 percent1 within 45 minutes with an optional maximum charging power of 110 kW[3].

As another variant, the Vito as a radio patrol car with a modern diesel engine also offers sufficient space for police equipment. For years, the Sprinter has been a reliable partner for transporting police forces as a half-group vehicle. At this year's GPEC, the vehicle can once again be seen at the Mercedes-Benz stand.
