Merck & Co. on Wednesday said it named Caroline Litchfield executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective April 1.

The Kenilworth, N.J., drugmaker said Ms. Litchfield succeeds Robert Davis, who becomes president on that date.

Ms. Litchfield, who joined Merck in 1990, currently serves as treasurer, with responsibility for treasury, tax and investor relations.

Last month, Merck said Kenneth Frazier, its chairman and chief executive, plans to retire as CEO at the end of June, with Mr. Davis taking the helm as CEO on July 1.
