ANDOVER, Mass. (AP) _ Mercury Systems Inc. (MRCY) on Tuesday reported a loss of $14.3 million in its fiscal first quarter.

The Andover, Massachusetts-based company said it had a loss of 26 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 24 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 20 cents per share.

The maker of processing systems and software posted revenue of $227.6 million in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $218.4 million.

For the current quarter ending in December, Mercury Systems expects its per-share earnings to range from 31 cents to 36 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $225 million to $240 million for the fiscal second quarter.

Mercury Systems expects full-year earnings in the range of $1.93 to $2.10 per share, with revenue ranging from $1.01 billion to $1.05 billion.
