On the afternoon of July 16, Zhang Mengxing, MCC President and Deputy Secretary of MCC Party Committee, went to Qujing City, Yunnan Province, and held a working talk with Li Shisong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Qujing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Qujing. The two sides conducted extensive and in-depth exchanges on further strengthening government-enterprise cooperation. During the visit to Yunnan, the group led by Zhang Mengxing also investigated the Yunnan Branch of MCC.

Zhang Mengxing thanked the CPC Qujing Municipal Committee and Qujing Municipal People's Government on behalf of MCC for their long-term support and briefly introduced the development of MCC. He said that MCC was the world's largest, strongest and best metallurgical engineering construction contractor and metallurgical enterprise operation service provider. MCC, with metallurgical construction as its traditional main business, boasts 37 special qualifications for general construction contracting and more than 29,000 effective patents, ranking fourth among central enterprises for six consecutive years. In recent years, MCC has realized transformation and upgrading in the non-metallurgy field by virtue of its strong technical advantages accumulated in steel metallurgy. It is committed to being the national team of metallurgical construction, the main force of infrastructure construction, and the frontrunner of emerging industries. It insists on the path of high-tech and high-quality development in the long term. It has formed a comprehensive capacity system of multidisciplinary coordination and integration and has made remarkable achievements in equipment manufacturing, theme parks, large gymnasiums, utility tunnels, environmental governance and new energy development, giving full play to its responsibility in the national construction.

Zhang Mengxing stressed that Yunnan has been known as the 'Kingdom of Non-ferrous Metals', and MCC participated in the construction of almost all nonferrous metallurgy and technical material processing enterprises in Yunnan. Qujing now boasts fast economic growth, an investment-friendly environment and great development potential. MCC's business is highly consistent with Qujing's development directions. He hoped that the two sides will give full play to their respective advantages, keep close communication, and further carry out all-round cooperation in highway, municipal infrastructure, characteristic town, industrial park and other fields on the basis of their previous cooperation, so as to realize win-win development.

Li Shisong extended his welcome to the group led by Zhang Mengxing for their visit to Qujing for inspection and cooperation and expressed his gratitude to MCC for its concern about the economic and social development of Qujing. Li Shisong briefly introduced the economic development situation of Qujing. He said that Qujing now enters a critical period of rapid and high-quality development and that MCC is a powerful super-large enterprise involving diversified sectors. The two sides have always maintained a good partnership in industrial development and infrastructure construction. He hoped that they will continue to seize development opportunities and deepen pragmatic cooperation on the basis of previous in-depth exchanges.

On the morning of July 17, the group led by Zhang Mengxing investigated the Yunnan Branch of MCC and held a seminar to listen to its work report.

Zhang Mengxing said that the Yunnan Branch of MCC should focus on development in Kunming, Yunnan, and strive to become stronger and better. At the same time, he stressed that it should make plans in advance, and study markets, qualifications, management and other issues affecting the long-term development of enterprises. He specifically put forward three requirements. First, it is necessary to keep a sense of urgency and responsibility to concentrate all efforts on the market expansion. Market expansion is the foundation of development for enterprises. The Yunnan Branch of MCC should maintain the leading position of marketing, taking it as the first principle of overall planning and operation; carry out classified planning for tracking projects, highlighting general construction contracting and EPC; employ excellent marketing personnel to contribute to expanding markets and creating an excellent team with a firm and persistent spirit and a strong sense of responsibility. Second, it is necessary to proceed with confidence to solve the problems that constrain its development. The Yunnan Branch of MCC faced many difficulties in the early stage of its establishment. In the face of difficulties, it should propel itself to forge ahead against all difficulties, stick to joint efforts towards the same goal and concentrate all its efforts on overcoming and solving the difficulties and problems encountered in the process of development. Third, it is necessary to speed up the construction of management staff forces and improve the staff's overall quality and ability. The Yunnan Branch of MCC should give full play to the flexible advantages of a mixed-ownership enterprise and fully unleash its development vitality; assess the staff in an open and fair way and advocate solid work to create performances. The leadership should set examples and implement all the work following the down-to-earth spirit, handle all matters through democratic decision-making, and make concerted efforts to get the Yunnan Branch of MCC bigger, better and stronger.

Those who attended the above activity also included Qujing's representatives Liu Benfang and Li Jinlin as well as responsible personnel from institutions directly under the People's Government of Qujing and responsible personnel such as Pan Biyi, Yi Shuguang, Zheng Wei, Duan Meiliang, Yang Kui and Wang Wei from related subsidiaries and the headquarters of MCC.
