AF Payments extends validity of beep cards !-- -- Richmond Mercurio (The Philippine Star) - February 15, 2020 - 12:00am MANILA, Philippines AF Payments Inc., a consortium of Metro Pacific Investments Corp.

and Ayala Corp. that is behind tap-and-go payment system beep card, said some 27,000 cards have already been extended through its ongoing expiry date extension program.

A P10 transaction fee is charged for the expiry date extension, except for concessionary beep cards for senior citizens and PWDs which will be extended free of charge. AF Payments last month decided to give cardholders with cards expiring this year a one-year extension for a certain fee.

"This is in line with the company's thrust to maximize the utility of beep cards and minimize the environmental impact of disposing expired cards," it said. Beep cards have a four-year expiry period as mandated by the concession agreement AF Payments has entered.

The expiry period has been set to ensure the cards remain functional and secure. However, upon further assessment, AF Payments has deemed it safe to extend the expiry period by one year, while it also assess if further extensions can be made.
