Minsur SA expects to start production at its Bofedal II project in 2016, with an investment of USD 165 million (EUR 121.7 million). The mine, to be built in the southern Puno region, is expected to produce 6,300 tonnes a year, at a cost of USD 1,800 per tonne. It will increase Minsur's tin reserves by 65,700 tonnes and will also process tailings from the San Rafael mine.
The reserves at Bofedal II and San Rafael are sufficient for 10 years of production under the current circumstances.
