FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) _ Misonix Inc. (MSON) on Thursday reported a loss of $8.5 million in its fiscal fourth quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Farmingdale, New York-based company said it had a loss of 50 cents.

The maker of minimally invasive ultrasonic surgical devices for spine surgery posted revenue of $13.7 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $17.4 million, or $1.19 per share. Revenue was reported as $62.5 million.

Misonix shares have dropped 31% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $12.88, a decline of 36% in the last 12 months.
