MOSCOW, Russia - Mobile TeleSystems Public Joint Stock Company ("MTS" or "the Company") (MOEX: MTSS), a leading provider of digital and media services and Russia's largest mobile operator, announces that the AK&M rating agency has given the Company's ESG reporting a rating of RESG 1, the highest-possible rating for information disclosure. The agency noted the structure of the Company's nonfinancial reporting, the significant improvement in the quality and amount of information provided on ESG initiatives as well as MTS Group's contribution to sustainable development.

As part of its assessment of MTS Group's sustainability reporting for 2021, the rating agency noted a number of key positive factors:

  • the logical structure of information disclosure: the Company's management system and sustainability results are presented in terms of various aspects of its ESG transformation;
  • the relationship between the Company's business and its ESG strategy;
  • the disclosure of statistical data for three years;
  • MTS's creative approach to the design concept for its sustainability report: the presentation of ESG initiatives through quotes from top managers and stakeholders, such as beneficiaries, partners and nonprofit organizations.

"MTS was the first company this year to receive a rating for its nonfinancial reporting. The company is actively building up its ESG expertise by implementing environmental initiatives, including with respect to carbon management and responsible resource use, generating social investment programs and implementing responsible management projects. At the same time, MTS made a real breakthrough in terms of the quality and completeness of the information disclosed: compared with last year's rating, the analysts' assessment of the Group's ESG report increased by 7.2 points, which is a significant improvement," said Lyudmila Eremina, Deputy General Director of AK&M.

MTS's nonfinancial reporting for 2021 was published for the first time in accordance with three international standards: GRI 1, TCFD 2 and SASB 3. The Company's sustainability report reflects the key results of its business activities and describes its environmental and social initiatives as well as its proactive contribution to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
